IMPACT METHODOLOGY

We track impact on the balance sheet.

We believe impact must be built directly into how a company generates revenue.
When commercial scaling and systemic value move in lockstep, impact becomes a core competitive advantage. Below is the operational framework that translates our thesis into verifiable outcomes.

Impact Performance Methodology

Translating realised impact multiples into financial alignment
WakeUp Capital aims to utilise the Impact performance data of its Portfolio Companies to drive their business value, aligning Impact alongside financial returns.
1
Define 1 to 3 bespoke impact KPIs per portfolio company
2
Establish quantifiable milestones and strategic weightings on each impact KPI
3
Monitor ongoing progress and compute impact multiples at both company and portfolio levels
4
Continuously track data pipelines to verify real-world outcomes and impact performance

Portfolio Impact Target & Carry Scale

We codify our commitment to impact–return alignment through our Carry Scale, ensuring our financial rewards as fund managers are directly tied to the impact we underwrite.

Impact Performance Achieved
Above 80%
100% of the impact carry is distributed to the predefined carry recipients.
50% – 80%
Between 50% and 100% of the impact carry is distributed to the predefined carry recipients.
Below 50%
No impact carry is distributed to the predefined carry recipients.

Impact Risk Framework:
Evaluating Potential. Managing Uncertainty.

Our framework evaluates both the scale of a company's impact potential and the operational uncertainties that may affect whether impact is ultimately realised. We look beyond what impact a company intends to create.
Instead, our investment process assesses how securely that impact is embedded within the company's core commercial model, corporate governance, and long-term business strategy.

Impact Advisory Committee

Meeting regularly throughout the year, our independent Impact Advisory Committee (IAC) serves as a critical checkpoint, gatekeeper, and strategic engine across our investment lifecycle.

Drawing on extensive leadership across venture capital, private equity, tech entrepreneurship, and social enterprise, the IAC brings together seasoned experts in sustainability and community engagement to uphold rigour in Impact Measurement and Management (IMM). No investment proceeds to decision without the explicit review and formal recommendation of this committee.

Key committee activities include:

  • Gatekeeping & Due Diligence: Evaluating early-stage deals for alignment with our core pillars while flagging impact risks.
  • Review and challenge bespoke, company-specific impact KPIs prior to and following deal close.
  • Review annual portfolio outcomes, track impact performance, and advise on strategy updates aligned with evolving global best practices.
